The Publishing Process

In the publishing business, everything revolves around maintaining the publication schedule. Because each issue requires about two months of preparation and one month to be printed, an article will need to be completed and submitted at least three months before it can be published.

Here is a list of the steps that are involved in having your article published:

1. Proposal is reviewed (approximately 2 weeks)
2. Comments are returned to author and deadline for completion is discussed
3. Article is completed (text and art) and submitted
4. Contract is signed
5. Text is edited and art redrawn
6. Article is laid out in magazine format
7. Proof is sent to author with return deadline (average turnaround time is one week)
8. Final proofreading stages
9. Issue is printed and distributed
10. Author receives payment and complimentary copies within 30 days of publication
