Static Bike
The indoor Static Bike is a unique design for exercisers who want to monitor their performance. A 3687 microcontroller controls the resistance of the pedals by changing the field excitation of a car alternator. The alternator provides power to charge a 12-V battery, feeds the control circuit, and powers a 5.5² TV. The microcontroller also generates NTSC video signals so that the user can display data such as duration, calories, velocity, and a graph of a trail on the TV, which is mounted between the bike’s handlebars.
