Renesas
The
Sextant Renesas augments a typical global navigation method
by using a
sextant to measure latitude and an accurate clock to measure
longitude. The low-cost design includes parts salvaged from
a computer mouse and cassette tape players. The HS8/2329 microprocessor’s
crystal clock is used for precision. By using a chronometer,
the system is capable of gathering accurate data to determine
longitude. In addition, the versatile, stand-alone unit can
be solar-powered.
