Challenger
The
Chess Challenger is a sophisticated electronic chessboard
that enables users to pit their skills against the brainpower
of a machine. The H8/3687F-based chessboard is comprised of
a matrix of pressure sensors with LEDs along the rows and
columns. The CPU interfaces to the matrix and scans it to
detect the movement of pieces made by the human opponent.
What makes this chessboard interesting is that an algorithm
calculates counter moves, which are indicated by the LEDs.
The system is programmed to play at four different levels
of difficulty, making it the ideal challenger for beginners,
masters, and anyone in-between.
