TOPAS: Thermo Optical Attitude Sensor for a UAV

The TOPAS project combines the power of a thermopile sensor and a CY8C27443 MCU-based data-processing system to create a dependable attitude detector. The reliability of the horizon detector is critical for the success of robotic unmanned air vehicles (UAVs). Unlike traditional autopilot systems, whose light-dependent resistors can be blinded by direct sunlight, this system uses sensors to handle automatic horizon leveling. In addition, this project provides the stabilization during adjustable rolls that’s necessary for autonomous aircraft.
