Two categories Internet Connectivity & Internet Application Double the Prizes!

What will you design with a PICmicro® MCU? Enter your design by April 1, 2000 and Win your share of $26,500 cash plus great development toll prizes!

• Internet Connectivity: invent a new way for TCP/IP connectivity implementation other than the Microchip AN (or other previously published in Circuit Cellar), incorporating additional protocols such as HTTP (for viewing web pages), FTP or TFTP (for file download/firmware updates/transfer), IRC (for command line interface or terminal type menuing system), and/or SMTP (for e-mail). The project can be direct or via modem.

• Internet Application: create a unique, sophisticated, or well-engineered Internet application that uses a PICmicro®. How the connection is made is not material; you may use the AN provided, static IP (write RS-232 program on a PICmicro® MCU) via emWare, or another implementation.

All core hardware must be a Microchip PICmicro® MCU. Downloadable app note (AN724 Using PICmicro® MCUs to connect to the INternet vis PPP). Sources for individual chips and other information are available from your local Microchip sales office/distributor or the Microchip web site.

Bonus Prizes (if winning entries use the following)

  • (i) modem on a PICmicro® MCU: Internet-Ready PIC DEM 2
  • (ii) incorporate security: KEELOQ Transponder Eval Kit
  • (iii) other devices or ICSP: $500
  • (iv) Utilize emWare for connectivity: Valuable emWare prize (TBD)
