This single
door, stand-alone system uses 2 MSP processors. The need for second
processor i.e. MSP 1101 allows the locking mechanism to be place
in a 'safe area' away from possible tampering. MSP 135 has the
following functions: 1) Accommodate 512 card users with
Personal Identification Number in MSP's flash memory. Each card
number consists of 6 digits and PIN consists of 4 digits. 2)
Ability to determine weekday base on day, month and year information.
(this is very important because functions related to category
and timer setting depends on weekdays.) 3) Enable /disable
pin mode base on category and timer setting (this function allows
the system to determine if pin is required when a valid card is
read.) 4) Lock /release the door base on category and timer
setting. 5) Read and interpret Weigand information send
from a Weigand card reader--this function, which is partially,
interrupt driven reads and interpret Weigand code to form the
card information. Weigand code transmitted from the reader is
42 bits but only the first 26 bits are used. Weigand card reader
uses a MSP430F1101. Unfortunately, details of its operation cannot
be revealed under the Non Disclosure Agreement. The Remote Lock
Unit MSP 1101 can communicate with MSP 135 via software UART using
422-communication standard, interpret the data send to determine
action taken, be fitted with 2 relays for lock and alarm, a dedicated
trip wire to detect tampering on the communication wire, and uses
a random unique ID system to ensure communication to the correct
MSP135. (Another main unit without proper setup will NOT communicate
to Remote Lock Unit.)
