The SEAL is intended for used by mountaineering and orienteering groups that may require GPS capabil-ity. With the GPS activated, the UTC time, latitude and longitude will be shown. Compass bearing is provided by a magnetometer, as GPS will not give reliable bearing data if not moving. The unit can func-tion without the GPS. Barometric pressure, which can be converted to altitude, is displayed in millibars. Because temperature is a component of the pressure compensation, it too is available, in centigrade format. The SEAL operates on 2 AAA batteries lasting many hours.
