The
Buckymeter has a dual serial interface for accessing
the internal data. An RS-232 serial connector is provided
to connect to older PCs. IrDA is provided to connect
to handheld computers such as a Palm Pilot.
You
can read and erase data in the flash memory via the
computer interface. A wide variety of additional keyboard
commands are supported to aid in the system’s development
and debugging. Refer to the serial.c software module
posted on the Circuit Cellar FTP site for details
about debugging commands.
A
periodic status message transmits a running status
update to a dumb terminal. The status includes a sample
from each of the four acceleration channels and the
total memory capacity of the flash memory storage.
This message is started by a <cr> and continues
for 50 lines after the last key press. The display
automatically times out to conserve battery power.
