A Look at the M16C Lineup

by Jeff Bachiochi

USING HEW

I spent a considerable amount of time on the RenesasInteractive web site familiarizing myself with the M16C family and playing with HEW and the demo in the Renesas VirtuaLab before my SKP16C62P StarterKit Plus arrived here at the Imagine That design complex. Giving myself a head start allowed me to jump right into the exercising the tools and hardware when it arrived by carrier owl from Hogwarts, eh, Renesas. No magic was involved. However, I wanted to write an application for the M16C/62P, and the SKP demo was written in C. I cringed at the thought, yet in going over the demo it had all of the routines I needed for what I had in mind (see Figure 3).

Figure 3—This flowchart was derived from the C code used in the demo program for the SKPM16C62P StarterKit Plus. Converted potentiometer and thermistor values are displayed on the LCD while buttons are monitored for key presses.
