The new WL01 Wireless LAN module provides the IPC@CHIP Controller SC123/SC143 with a fully fledged Wireless LAN interface. The module also enables both Infrastructure mode on an existing access point as well as Adhoc mode between several WL01 modules.

The connection of the compact 23 × 36 × 5 mm add-on module to the IPC@CHIP is implemented serially, via a SPI, with a maximum transfer rate of 48 MHz. The module supports the latest transmission standards -802.11b and g (11 and 54 Mb in the 2.4 GHz range), as well as the security standards in compliance with WEP and 802.11i (WPA), and offers two antenna terminals for optimized reception and transmission.

An FK61-WL01 development kit will be offered for users to develop their own wireless LAN solutions inexpensively and quickly, as well as the Wireless LAN module and an adapter board for the existing DK61 IPC@CHIP development kit. It also contains all of the required software libraries, the documentation, and a demonstration implementation with a web configurator. It is possible to configure the wireless LAN module directly from the application program via a C-API as well.

The FK61-WL01 costs approximately $448.
