The Tmote Invent is a new low-cost wireless sensor system. The system consists of hardware and software components that allow you to quickly and easily build and install custom wireless sensing applications at a much lower cost than previously available. The hardware component combines the FCC-certified Tmote Sky sensor module for communication and computation with a rechargeable battery, an integrated suite of sensors, a microphone, and a speaker all packaged into an innovative case. The sensors included measure light, temperature, sound, and acceleration.

The system’s software component is a robust distribution of the open-source TinyOS operating system. The unique enhancements to TinyOS yield long-lived reliable applications through integration of cutting-edge open-source technology with robust, manageable wireless technology. Together, the two core components of the Tmote Invent system allow customers to quickly build and deploy custom wireless-sensing applications.

The Tmote Invent kit includes eight Tmote Invent units, the TinyOS distribution, two USB cables, manual, and a CD. The kit costs $1,995.
