MINIATURE, LOW-COST HYBRID RF MODULES

The new RTFQ1 and RRFQ1 transmitter and receiver pair allows you to simply implement an economical FM radio data link. The modules suit both one-to-one and multi-node applications such as car and building security, EPOS, and inventory tracking.

The miniature hybrid modules, which are available in both 433.92- and 315-MHz versions, achieve data rates of up to 4.8 kbps over distances of up to 250¢ indoors and 800¢ across open ground. Their small size and low power requirements make them particularly suited to portable, battery-powered applications.

The modules have a laser-trimmed thick-film ceramic hybrid construction that enables them to exhibit extremely stable electronic characteristics across an operating temperature range of –20° to 85°C. There are no adjustable components in the design. This further simplifies implementation.

Power supply requirements for the RTFQ1 transmitter are 3 V. The PCB, which is configured as a DIL package, measures just 0.80² × 0.45². The RRFQ1 receiver is a 1.50² × 0.72² SIL package. It requires a 5-V supply in operating mode. The module also has a power-saving, 0-V, 100-nA Standby mode. Other key features of the receiver include a PLL crystal design and CMOS/TTL output. Prices for the modules start at $9.
