DUAL-PHASE PWM CONTROLLER WITH INTEGRATED DRIVERS

The TPS40130 is a multiphase synchronous DC/DC buck controller with integrated adaptive gate drivers. The flexible power management device saves valuable board space and simplifies power design for dual-channel, multiphase systems supporting up to 60 A, such as DDR memory banks, point-of-load DC/DC converters, DSPs, and ASICs used in telecom and networking power supplies.

The controller provides significantly higher performance and power efficiency over competing PWM power supply solutions. The controller can support input voltages from 3 to 40 V, with output voltages from 0.7 to 6 V at greater than 90% efficiency. The TPS40130 implements fixed-frequency, peak current-mode control with single-cycle current balance. High-accuracy current sensing can be implemented with an external sense resistor or lossless DC resistance current sensing can be used. For added performance, an on-board differential load-sense amplifier provides remote load sensing for high-current, high-accuracy applications.

The TPS40130 is equipped with all supervisory and control features for today’s power supplies, including programmable under-voltage lock out and over-voltage protection, a power good indicator, synchronization input, programmable over-current protection, and selectable load-line programming. In addition, the differential load sense amplifier provides remote load sensing for high-current applications. Packaged in a 30-pin TSSOP, the suggested resale cost is $1.30 in quantities of 1,000 units.
