16-BIT SAR ADC OFFERS FOUR TRUE BIPOLAR INPUTS

The ADS8342 is a 16-bit, 250-ksps, successive approximation (SAR) ADC featuring four true bipolar input channels with a ±2.5-V input range. This data converter is ideal for data acquisition, test and measurement, industrial process control, medical instruments, and laboratory equipment. The ADS8342 consists of a four-channel input multiplexer, a capacitor-based SAR ADC with inherent sample-and-hold, an interface for microprocessor use, and parallel tristate output drivers.

The SAR architecture and CMOS process allow the ADS8342 to acquire and convert an analog signal at up to 250,000 conversions per second while consuming less than 200 mW of power. The device also features 16-bit, no-missing codes, as well as ±1-mV offset voltage, ±2-LSB typical integral nonlinearity (INL), and a selectable 8- or 16-bit parallel interface.

The ADS8342 is packaged in a TQFP-48. It’s currently available for $10.75 in 1000-piece quantities.
