Answer 7—The X value represents the maximum value of the counter before it’s reset, and this also causes the output to go high. The Y value represents the value of the counter when the output is driven low. Therefore, X represents the period of the output pulses and Y represents their width. If the X and Y values are the outputs of the previous circuit, this circuit creates a replica of the original pulse train.
