Test Your EQ:

Answer 2—Believe it or not, the correct units are “ohms per square.” The actual size of the square doesn’t matter. The total resistance will be the same whether it’s one square millimeter or one square foot.

If you go through either of the derivations shown above, but substitute width (meter) for area (meter2), you’ll find that the lengths all cancel out.
