Test Your EQ #159—Answer

Answer 3—The AC voltage across the B-E junction is on the order of 1 mV or less, and the nonlinearity of this junction has little effect on circuit performance. The base current is a tiny fraction (1/beta) of the emitter current, and any distortion of this current is merely added to the collector current, rather than amplified by the transistor.
