RF currents tend to flow on the outer
surface of the conducting medium. This phenomenon is called
the "skin effect." Methods employed to overcome the skin
effect include:
a) Braided conductors (Litz
wire) are useful at frequencies up to hundreds of Kilohertz
b) Silver plating of copper
conductors is a technique that's effective into the UHF
range (hundreds of megahertz).
