Test Your EQ #150— Answer

Answer 1
The preferred method is tuning posts. Irises, bends, etc. give a permanent matching for any discontinuities in a waveguide, by creating an opposite reactance so that the reactance associated with the discontinuity is nullified. However, irises and bends, once they are fixed, are very difficult to adjust, whereas tuning posts provide the flexibility to make any minor adjustments that may be needed later.
