Test Your EQ #144— Answer

Answer 1

Input to the inverting amplifier is Vz, which is the regulated zener voltage. The output of the opamp is Vo = –(R2/R1)Vz Since Vz is regulated, the output Vo is also regulated. The output voltage Vo can be adjusted by varying R2. Rs should be chosen such that sufficient current flows through the zener diode to maintain it at breakdown.
