References, Resources, and Sources Checklist Content We want articles offering hands-on applications of computer technology with an emphasis on professional, commercial-quality projects. Tutorials and descriptions of the operation of a new microprocessor or controller introduce readers to the latest technology. New algorithms, practical applications of theory, and theoretical developments provide food for thought.
Circuit Cellar articles can be about hardware or software. Software articles typically deal with issues related to embedded control, real-time processing, data collection, and interfacing. We don't specialize in any single computer system. Use the system you're most comfortable with; if that system is uncommon, include a sidebar describing the microprocessor's features, architectural basics, and operating systems.
Project components need to be available. Circuit Cellar articles are meant to inform and educate; therefore, we require that articles include enough material so that readers can experiment with the techniques and theories introduced. List sources and prices for rare parts. If your project includes software, you need to provide it. Short excerpts of code (we call them "listings") can be used in the article. Other longer code will be posted on our ftp site for readers to download. Please note that releasing your source code is not necessary; however, you must at least provide the object code.
If you're marketing the project as a hardware kit or software with expanded functionality, include a text box describing the kit, cost, and ordering information at the end of the article.
